It’s raining
Tessie – Come on, Kate. It’s eight o’clock and we’re late*. The film starts at half past eight.
Kate – Oh, don’t worry. It’s Sunday: no traffic*. So there’s plenty* of time.
Tessie – No, there isn’t. We have only half an hour to walk to the cinema and buy* the tickets.
Kate – What? Walk to the cinema?! But it’s raining… No, we can’t go.
Tessie – You’re making excuses, Kate. Actually you want to go on* surfing the Net.
Kate – That’s not true!
Mother – Girls, what’s going on? It’s ten past eight. Why aren’t you ready, Kate?
Kate – Well, mum, it’s raining and it’s a long way to the cinema.
Mother – No problem. I can take you in the car. Come on! Quick!!!
Tessie – No excuses now, Kate!
